Power Antenna Motor Help
I have a new mast for an old motor that works - but barely. Can someone tell me how to get the old cord out of the motor and the new one in correctly? Does the motor come apart at all (i.e., the wiring side from the mast cord side)? Is there any place that restores these motors - wires, brushes, etc.? I talked to some guy in NC that I found in Hemmings but he was a total jerk. Thanks!

Years ago when I worked in a Olds dealer I used to overhaul these motors. The mast cord usually has a hook on the end of it that coild up around a spool. Sounds like the mast itself may be binding or the motor bushings need to be cleaned and lubed. Too bad you were not closer to me so I could take a look at it.

So how does the motor come apart?
The mast is off but I still want to take apart and clean. Do you think a person who rebuilds starters / alternators could put new windings / brushes/ etc.?
