Default Avoid scams and fraud by dealing locally! Beware any deal involving Western Union,

We decided to sell the Hot Tube...so far have had five calls. Why do people say their coming at a certain time and the never show up.

Now for the rest of the story. One of the first calls, was from AT&T asking if I'd except a interpreted call, my guess the other person was Deaf.

Shes says she will mail a check, and have the shipping company stop
by and give here a estimate on shipping charges, and will include another
check for pick up and shipping cost.

Then ask for my e-mail address, so we can exchange address, I send my address. Well two weeks go by and no checks, I send and e-mail asking if
she was still interested.

The next day I get a phone call from AT&T it's her again, saying she sent the checks UPS....I'm thinking checks...no one ever came to look at the Hot Tube. Next thing I know while still on the phone UPS truck pulls up, he walks in with big white envelope. I get off the phone and open it up, sure enough there's two Postal money orders, both for the same amount, one supposely to cover the cost of the hot tube and the other for shipping.

Then my phone dings...it's a e-mail from her, asking if I could cash both checks and send the other by Western Union. Well as we all know you need cash to send a Western Union money order.

Here's the scam, Banks won't cash Postal money orders, only if you have enough money to cover both checks. So they have to be deposited and a one day hold is put on the money. Here's how the game works, lets say I deposited both checks, and took enough cash out of my account to send her a Western Union money order.

The next day, you find out both checks are bad, now you out that 1500.00 dollars you just sent, and no way of every getting it back.

What seem realy fishy was she was from TX...in her e-mail she says someone was going to fly in, to check out the Hot Tube...long story short
both Postal money orders where fake, and the Bank would take them.

Both Postal money orders were from Virgina, " she's from TX " I took them to the post office and they confirmed they where fake. I asked how can they do that " make fake Postal Money orders...they guy said...hey they can do anything. Well Now I know how to tell real ones from fake ones. Pretty sad when you can't even trust postal money orders. Be careful, I could have been out $1500.00

Same thing happened to me, didn't go that far because while talking to the AT&T operator I asked her if the assisted call service was used by scammers and she said yes quite often.

This has been going on for 10 plus years and all over the internet.

I get UPS envelopes all the time with Cashiers checks, Money Orders, etc made out to my business. Just got one today for an odd amount. $2483.58. Have no clue who or what it is about. From KC. on a bank in NJ and the company in NY. No note or anything. Just the Money Order.
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha

The e-mails are easy to spot after awhile as they all end the same way. ;)

No..she doesn't get the money...the Western Union check would have gone to
suppositly the company picking up the Hot Tub, to pay for shipping. Just so happen
that check is the same amount at the one for the Hot Tub. Nice trick.

They walk away with $1500.00.
