Dog Dish clips
Well, I bought a set from Fusicks a while back and now I just bought a set off ebay from TAZIMMY. Someone on the forum contacted him and he assured them that they were not the same clips. They are the same clips and they still suck. The barbs still break off and the clips are still damn near impossible to get on.
Save some bucks and order them from Fusicks and get the same crappy product haha I'm going to take the wheels off, hammer the clips on and then tack weld them in place. Hopefully I don't break any like I did on the last set

In defense of Fusick, they are an OLDS vendor...they probably work perfectly on an OLDS rim. Just a thought. |

Well, the problem I had with them once I finally got them mounted on the rim is when I tried to install the hubcaps 2 or 3 of my clips actually broke. Olds or Pontiac, they should be stronger than that.
We'll see how these go

Have you figured a way to use the tazimmy clips? I have a set and so far broke three and have not been able to get any on....They seem brittle.

So explain to me why you can't run these hubcaps on the newer style rims with the **** stamped into the rim that hold the cap?

Rob... Mike, these caps are smaller and actually fit inside the ridge on the rim, not outside. It's too bad because it makes wheel choice much harder!

The newer style wheels have little nubs that stick out that the hubcap snaps over and the little nubs hold the cap on. The early hubcaps have no nubs but have 3 slots in each wheel which a small metal clip slides into and the hubcaps pops over the clips and the clips hold it on. To me the early ones look better because they are more flush with the wheel and don't stick out like the later ones do.
I just recently put the TAzimmy clips on my car. It went smoothly but I have broken a few clips the last time I tried to put them on a car so I kind of figured out how to do it by trial and error. Take the wheels off, get a hammer and some sort of punch (or something to extend the hammers reach) since it's hard to hammer directly on the clip. Hammer the clip in the slot, make sure it's seated as well as you can get it. Try to make sure it's straight. Tack weld that POS on there, repaint the wheels and pop those dog dishes on there! TIP! You'll notice that one of the clips is spaced further than the other two. Start the hubcap on that one, then slide it over one of the other clips, and then with a fist you should be able to tap it a few times and get it to slide over the remaining clip. It's easy if you start with the furthest one away Here is what you end up with I'll try to remember to take a picture of them tack welded on.

Here's a closer pic of the correct style dog dishes on my Catalina. It might be hard to tell but this is a later style snap on hubcap on a chevy 15" wheel that's on my Star Chief. I'm pretty sure these are Canadian hubcaps, I thought they went well with the Star Chief because they have little stars on them, not quite "correct" but they look sweet

I'd like to find a nicer set but they're hard to find
If anyone has a set I'll trade them a nice set of 61-64 dog dishes

Will Pontiac caps fit on a 62 Olds wheels with clips?

carmak, I think that Olds design vs. the Pontiac design is the difference here.
My spare clips are buried but it'd be helpful to have someone take a good pic of the known-Pontiac clip next to the Fusick / weld-in (ugh) clip. |

I remember talking to someone at the POCI convension in the Quad Cities that he had a full set of Olds wheels on his 63 Catalina with poverty caps.
So my thought is that Pontiac clips on a Pontiac wheel hold a Pontiac cap and Olds Clips on an Olds wheel hold a Pontiac Cap but Olds clips on a Pontiac wheel do not work. Carmak |

Those clips are expensive......I guess I got lucky, I wanted a set of 15" wheels for my '62 Cat and I found a set of 4 on Ebay last summer. I bought the set for $125, when they arrived they were the nicest wheels you could imagine, all of the clips were perfect with no rust at all. I called the guy and ordered one more for the spare and it was nice also. They were sand blasted and painted black. I sent them out and had them powder coated gloss black. Here's the guys Ebay information, you might check to see if he has anymore.

I believe Olds and possibly Buick used the same clips on earlier cars. Fusicks claims like 46?-58? clips are the same as the Pontiac clips.
I've never seen the Buick ones up close but I have seen pics of 1950 Buick clips and they appear to be identical although they used 4 clips instead of 3

You can get 15" wheels from early 40s-early 50s Pontiacs which have the clips riveted on
