You're forgetting that Duane's contributions ended in 71 and after that it was all Dickey up untill the re-union when he brought Warren Haynes with him.Not to mention all the work with "Great Southern". Tom's claim to fame is his M.I.T. degree and his inventions such as "Rockman".Proof of this,is that he has done nothing W/O Boston. |

In fact, it's probably almost sacrilegious to say among southern rock fans, but I always liked Dickey's playing better than Duane's. Better writer, clean, razor sharp playing. Of course, it's just my opinion that he's underrated. Could be that lots more people than I realize actually do appreciate him just as much. I just never hear him mentioned when people talk great guitar players.

No matter how you look at it, they have differnt styles and differnt tones. Both great players. BUt, listen to Layla by Clapton( Derek and the Dominos )... i cant imagine Dicky trying to play the slide on the end of that song.... it was Duane.... Tom is a brilliant player with awesome imagination when it comes to production. Boston's sound came and went... no mistaking his sound. First 2 albums were awesome, and i learned alot about guitar harmonies and melody listening to his solos. Brad ( the other guitar player) was a badass too...
