is it a lot of fluid or a little?
I've learned to accept that these cars can't keep all of their fluids inside. If it is just a little wetness, I'd leave it alone. If it is spewing out, then it needs fixed.

Might just need to be run awhile to "set" the seal.
So why pay someone else when you can cuss for free yourself.

I didn't replace the seal while I had the motor out. In fact, I didn't do anything other than clean and repaint it. Oh, I did replace the freeze plugs.
I just don't want to have to pull the motor after I get the car painted and back on the road.

It's not a lot. I reckon I could put the old exhaust back on and run the car. Then I could see how bad it is.

No,I have to get a new engine harness, the one I had was only 6 years old.The harness was not matching on the dash fusebox right for some reason.
The pins would move so there was no power to the engine and the housings would not snap together![]() After ALOT of fiddling we have power to the engine long enough to get it where it's being stored for the time being.I had no dash lights either. Not sure if it will be able to drive it on a trailer,I'm bringing stuff to winch it if I have to |

Everything is on hold right now. I have some decisions to make about which way to go with the car and they all hinge on whether I get a job I applied for. I hope to know something around the first of the new year. If I get it the motor is coming out and I am going to install the HO exhaust. I am also thinking about a cam upgrade as well but I will start a new thread about it.
If I don't get the job I will hook up the exhaust I now have and let the motor alone.

I feel for you Phil. I had my engine rebuilt when I restored my car. I put 150 miles on it and the motor started knocking bad, so we pulled it out. Rebuilt it again. Went another 30 miles. STARTED KNOCKING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pulled it AGAIN and finally found the "problem". Rebuilt it AGAIN and now we are back on the road. We were I guess, its winter here and we have 2 feet of snow so the goat is sleeping in the shop. The motor is still running a little hot and we dont know why. It has been gone through very carefully and we dont know why it is doing it. I truly hope your luck is better than mine with your motor.

The first guy didnt line bore the engine when he bored and decked the rest of it. Everything else measured out correct except that. The crank was sitting in a warped section of the block. In too much of a hurry, I guess. No problem though. A small mountain of money will fix most problems.

I am still waiting on the job situation. That will determine which way I go with the project. I would really like to put a hydraulic roller rocker cam in the motor. I bought a few parts from a fellow PYer and they should be here tomorrow or Tuesday.
I have been busy the past week with my part-time job and didn't even get out to my shop. This week will be the same and, of course, next Saturday is Christmas. I hope Santa brings me some GTO goodies. ![]() Y'all have a Merry Christmas.
