Thanks everyone for this feedback.
Aron, I'm not sure I've seen original motor '72 Blue/White/AC TA's floating around for $12K. A couple of reference comp cars would be helpful if available to help spot this car in the scheme of values and such. I did see a few totaled engineless vin no's sell last summer for $6K +/-. $5K for to bring the engine back... ugggh... your probably spot on, if it can be saved. I should have clarified the front clip and spoilers/flares are with the car, but your right, all the bolts and incidentals such as vapor canister, washer bottle etc are missing. Your point is well made thinking about chasing all those items. Regarding sharing the info with the seller on this thread, unfortunately, he does not have internet access. It's a little challenging even getting pictures and details from him. Formulabruce and RAJ, it does seem like it's worth saving, but since it's challenging getting pictures, I don't have the detail on the trim tag yet, but I do have the PHS. It's X2N518XXX with a ship date of 12-02-71 so yes it's an early car, but probably a 11C or 12A car. My 521XXX is 12B with a ship date of 12-17-71. BossbirdTA, that is a some set up for the 8-track. Thank you for the picture. The surround for the 8track and the stand are probably unobtanium, which speaks back to Aron's comments earlier about having to chase parts. Finally, I was able to find some pictures here on these threads of column shift auto's. They definitely are different.

True, I have yet to see a Lucerne blue one #'s matching for 12K,,,,,,but I HAVE seen a 71 and a 70 white #'s matching last year for under 10K. They needed some work, but were in driveable condition. And I personally missed out on a #'s matching 73 that went for $5800. I spoke with the guy who bought it....he flipped it on ebay for 12K. He bought it with that intent, and he got hate mail on ebay from guys in his area who had seen the original craigslist ad and then his ebay auction.....lol. Cant blame the guy for trying to make a buck.
Anyway, these cars are out there if you do national searches on craigslist frequently. Not saying you'll find a blue one, but ask yourself if blue is worth twice the headaches? Although.....if you are telling me some of those items are there, then maybe it IS worth 6K? But not much more I think, especially if the interior is shot too. |
