I keep a minimum of a 1,000 rounds on hands at all times. They will really regret trying to conform me and my family. I will lay my firearms down for no one.

Reminds me of Reba and Michael Gross in the "playroom" in the movie Tremors.

Life is all about managing risk.

The fuel, ammo, etc. won't help against A-10's or terrorist WMD's. But......they will be very handy in a variety of other situations.....food shortages, civil unrest, roving criminals, etc. So if having those things on hand helps in, say 80% of the potential high-risk situations, it's without question a good thing to have them.

Similar to concealed carry when cornered by an armed criminal. If you and the criminal are both armed, your odds of prevailing might be 50/50....which is way, way better than being unarmed and having 0% chance.

Eric

I would like to think that if things ever did get out of hand, that our military would not turn on it's own people regardless of who is in power. On the other hand, if things go south, the direction is pretty much already known (socialism). If that's the case, I can imagine some outside 'peace-keeping force' getting sent in. THAT would be cause for concern. Major concern since it would most likely be those that didn't like the US in the first place.

You won't have to worry about our military except in very specific locations. More often it's the local police personnel you have to contend with--well, also some of the Guard. It's the ignorance of your rights by some of these individuals, the corruption of their values/morals and since they live in your area, they want to maintain their existance (as well as their family's) so they will take from you. If they don't, it's because you paid them off.

Yeah, I expect a holster sniffer or an apologist to respond negatively to this post. But if it gets to where your country is completely broken, don't expect to hole up in your house and protect it with your rifle. Would that work in northeast Japan with a cloud overhead? Would you want to stay in a contaminated area to 'fight the system'? Could you believe the disinformation they're feeding you in those events? Prepare your mind for all situations or be paralized when one happens that you didn't think about. DON'T expect you'll be staying at home to develop a plan to take your government back. You have zero chance of doing that. They'll just dump something in the water and wait until the flies are done gorging.
I don't know why, but I've chosen not to deal with it much at all. I couldn't carry all the stuff people prepare with if I had to leave. Then what? Travel and you come to check points manned by police depts. No more guns/ammo. Then what? Get in that line over there. Heading to the mountains? It's going to be crowded there. Lots of people with itchy trigger fingers. Lots of exposure to the elements. Just try to do it peacefully like they did in Egypt. Don't work a job if it's to pay for the machine that enslaves you to corporations like big pharma, Coke or Big Oil.
