I bought 3 new Chinese SKS Paratrooper rifles quite a few years ago for $106 each. I still own one of them, it is in mint condition. Wished I would have bought a couple of cases of them, and all the armor piercing 7.62 x 39 ammo I could have carried!

The banned the importation of that ammo many years ago, and it's illegal to sell it as well. Almost all of the early Russian ammo was AP, but not too many folks know this.....Cliff

The owner of CTD has a ton of it, two car garage the back wall was stacked to the roof two or three cases deep, We had a problem with Ft worth fire chief around the y2k era and I moved more ammo in a day than most would ever touch in a lifetime. I begged him to sell me a case or two he said he couldn't because of the ban he just had to sit on it. I said then don't sell it just give me some, he still wouldn't, Oh well. We still got checked with a magnet every time we walking into the range until I quit going back in 2004 or 2005.

I recently developed a strange fascination with the M14/M1A(Semi auto, .308). Man would I love to have one.

It wouldn't be an ideal weapon for where I live. An MP5 or Benelli M3 would be much more useful on some of the street thugs/addicts that would be prone to doing somthing stupid. But, so far the police and the military are doing what I paid taxes for, they're running on a buget and man power I can't even remotely match. And the weapon assults and B&E crimes have been minimal around here.

If the crime rate goes up, I'll be shopping. But as of yet, I haven't had to do that yet.

For the most part, I'm going to get more use, and more fun out of car parts. I think the next $1500 I have to spend on fun stuff is going to go for CM chassis tubing over a M1A. I think I'm going bank on the statistics that I'll more likely be killed in a car crash as opposed to gun fight.

I did go to Cabelas today. I always wanted to see the place and it was really cool. I did window shop, but didn't buy.

NBF, I have an M1A and much prefer my AK47. M1A is big, heavy and clunky but I still like it. I have enough property to have a 400 yard shooting range and we shoot often. I can't express enough to all you guys to shoot you guns and know them. Shoot them at different times of day. The AK is much more accurate than the SKS after 100 yards but inside of 100 yards the SKS is effective. The AK will consistantly ring a man size target at 300 yards with the factory iron sights and bulk ammo. No props, stand up and shoot like a man. So guys you don't need scopes on these two weapons!!! In my opinion anyway

(1) Some people say all fiat currencies fail. Gold has been money for over 4000 yrs hasn't it? It still is. Fiat currency is what's worthless in the end (US dollars, Euros, etc.). Federal Reserve Notes are backed by nothing but the American taxpayer's ability to make them good. When our Dollar is a debt instrument, it's a Ponzi scheme until you can no longer pay the interest on the borrowed debt. There's no way around that without someone taking it in the shorts.
Dave Ramsey is an idiot. Let him get you out of debt. He's an investment idiot though.

(2) Remember in Jan 2011 Obama saying he wanted US exports doubled in 2 yrs? You do that most easily by weakening your Dollar so foreign nations grab your stuff on the cheap. You also drive your debt rating down with inflating your currency (money printing) so your debtors sell off your debt for cheap money (and you can print/buy it back cheaply avoiding paying as much to them if your money was better).

Q: So, is it (2) good tactical financial planning or (1) your cash is just trash because it's a Ponzi scheme? Find a graph of your debt since 1970. Look at your GDP along with it.
A: Your currency is screwed.

Look for a loss of internet connectivity and a national emergency as possible distractions for the end of your current "money". Silver followed gold at a 15:1 or 16:1 ratio in the 1980s. Where is it supposed to be at 2500 gold (that's where gold is supposed to go according to a large number polled recently--economists). James Dines called the 2008 financial bust 30 yrs ago--he called the exact yr 30 yrs ago and it's in his book copywrited in the 70s. He says gold to 5000 in the next several yrs. Marc Faber says 100% chance of hyperinflation in America. They both say have some precious metals. Me? I'm still buying collectibles that will be worth about 1/10th of current value if/when the crash comes because I have no chance of surviving that collapse without God's help. I know my limitations.
