That is what we were planning to do also. But Dave Bennett said that the pits have to be empty out friday night because they have a circle track race that night and they need the pits for that. Not sure what we are going to do if we can't stay in the pits.

I'll be at Beech Bend this week participating in the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion, and will be meeting with the track owner. I'll find out for sure, and post up. The campgrounds are adjacent to the pits, and will be available.

Be nice to know for sure about the pit situation. At least they have the camp grounds close.

Any updated information on the pit situation?

The track owner informed me yesterday that he would do his best to accommodate the racers that want to be in the pit area on Friday night. I expect detailed info will be available at the gate as to where drag racers can park in the pits on Friday night. Again, the campground (fee) and Reagan Field (free) are available and both inside the main gate.

At the main gate, you will purchase a tech card – this is admission for the racer and his/her car. All others will pay $15 per adult spectator fee. The fee covers both days – wristbands most likely will be issued. Your other option is convention registration – this gives you, your significant other and any minor children in your family free admission – in other words, you bypass paying the spectator fees – plus it gives convention credential holders a $5 discount to the amusement park. This option might be more economical for a family. You do not need to be a POCI member to participate in this event or to register for the POCI Convention.

When POCI originally scheduled the Convention for Bowling Green the drag day event was to be a one day (Saturday) race. Because there was a lot of interest, and, the popularity of the Beech Bend facility, we then added Friday (day) to the schedule. There is an early track close on Friday because of conflict with the previously scheduled Friday evening stock car race. We figured using these two days was better than one for the attendees.

As POCI moves into the future, we will look at additional options for multi-day drag events – your input as a participant is valuable to POCI.
