Default Did any Firebirds ever get a painted taillight panel ?

I know some of the 2nd gen Camaro's got black painted taillight panels, but was wondering if any of the Firebirds ever got that treatment ?
Thanks !

Thanks. That looks pretty good.

The reason I ask is that my car is having the trunk lid and tail panel re-painted this week. The car is silver, and I was thinking about doing a satin charcoal finish on the tail panel. Car is not a "numbers" car, kind of going for more of a pro-touring look, and my BOZE wheels should arrive soon too ! The wheels will have the charcoal centers, so I think it would compliment it nicely.

From the factory, the Camaros showed they were BBC equipped with the black rear panel. At least, thats what I recall from my Camaro driving days.....lol.

I've been a Transam / Firebird fanatic for 37 years and have never seen any tail panels come from GM painted black. In 1978 Transam came from the factory with the tail-light frames painted flat-black . All 67 -68 Camaro SS ,(big-block) cars came with the black tail panels .

As did '69 - 71 BB Camaros.

You can now get Carbon fiber tail panels....natural Black finish and would look cool for that Pro Tour look.

I would like to see those ! I've heard there are other carbon fiber parts available (and more in the works), and I believe the PT Firebird Goldberg is building has many of those parts on it. I imagine they are pricey though !

Afters some debate, I went ahead with having mine re-painted in the correct silver. Painter called last night and said he has my parts ready, so I'll go get them tonight and start the re-assembly. I figured I could always paint it a darker shade later if I decide to go that route.

One thing I thought of today is I'll bet you could even have it "wrapped" like they do some of the promotional/advertising cars you see. That way it would be removable if you ever decided to put it back original.
