I had a large number of folks come up to me at GM Carlisle the other week and take a gander at the inserts as well. The are an interesting conversation starter.

Has anyone ever heard of or seen a LeMans with them from the factory? I've been told that they could have been ordered on the LeMans, I'd like to confirm that before I pull the trigger on buying a set. I don't like to add anything to the car if it couldn't have been back in the day...

I spoke with member alex s. on sun., and he owned a 67 Lemans that was factory ordered with the red liners!

yes it was possible
as well as any other Pontiac A body.

I ll see if I can find the list of options on a 66 Sprint that had them.
It was a factory brass hat car.

I know the catalogs of the day could be wrong, but page 40 of the Pontiac "accessories" catalog shows a "sprint" Pontiac with the red wheel well liners....see attached pic....lower left...

Available on any Tempest, Tempest Custom, LeMans or GTO except station wagon model in '66 or '67.

I'm sure that the production numbers are in existence, somewhere. Option sales numbers were tracked so that decisions could be made concerning whether or not to offer an option next year or, more than likely, several years down the road. Option production reports have turned up for '70 through '72, they just have not been located or disseminated for the rest of the years yet.

I used to have a '67 GTO convertible (spd) that had them as an option. Code 522 if I remember correctly... Sorry to say that a few bad experiences with less than responsible shops and the car eventually went away in mostly pieces. I bought a used set of RFLs that I never got to put on a car and are still in a box in my garage. They are kinda rough but I'm tired of storing them if anyone is interested..( I had kind of forgotten about them till now.. ??? $250)

I purchased an nos set for my brother's black '66 convert in the late 80's. The guy had bought an extra set when his car was new and never used them. The were still in the original huge GM box. When I went to install them, the rears didn't fit quite right and then realized that convert rear inner wells were shaped different. I did get them to fit with a little work.

My 66 came from the factory with them. It was built first week of May. My car is such an oddball (RARE) that i'm going to have to buy the repose when I do the frame off.
