Hmm, I'll look more into the GMC option--I'm taking my time, trying to get educated.

I see that the Freightliner medium duties give you a Cummins AND an Allison tranny--though I don't see many in my price range without 300k on 'em. Anybody have any experience with something like those?

Look here for GM diesel information, I got a ton of information on my 6.5 turbo on these forums: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/?

BTW, I paid $1800 for my Ext cab K3500 dually 4X4 so the chevy /GMC can be bought pretty reasonably. Needed some TLC but it does everything I need in a truck, haul, plow, and it surely ain't pretty but I don't need a pretty truck.
