Louis, I'd say the full floor with braces would be the best and onlyway to go if it were me doing it. Expensive yes, but at least everything is there and it's all done at once in one shot. No having to go back and rip it all apart for another section that needs to be done later on.

That's exactly what I've been thinking. Easy to remove and easy to install and no extra work in welding a bunch of patches... The resto shop will be thrilled! I really wish full quarters were available, oh well, such is life...

I hope to be placing a huge order within the next few weeks... I'll post new pics when I have them.

I've been busy with other cars but I now have some funds to order all my sheetmetal. Should have all of it ordered tomorrow and sent to the resto shop... They will be taking a pic of all the goddies when they arrive. As soon as I have more, I will post more pics.

The closer we get to having all the metal work finished, the more the "boss" has mentioned modifications... I planned on all stock, oem, numbers matching.
Then she says she like the pro-touring style; how about an LS1 conversion?, or a built 455, and then back to stock..

Then we're talking about the color. It's supposed to be champagne gold. Personally, I don't care for it. I prefer tiger gold or even better Verdoro Green, however everyone I tell gives me the face and says "green? Really?"....

Is it that bad?

UGGGHH, my head hurts and we're only in the early-mid stages....

I know the stock stuff seems to be way cheaper and the 326 and the gears it has are good for MPG. However, this car is probably going to be just like my Buicks;- a garage queen that sees only nice warm weather and cruise nights and car shows- not sure the mpg will be much of a concern.

Thoughts?

Hey Boostmaster, I feel your pain... I'll be starting my '71 convertible this year, and it too will need all the metal. Right now I can drop a cat thru its floorboards! I'll be looking forward to your pictures of the progress.

As to you questions, here are a couple of my thoughts...

1. If you keep it stock (326, etc), then I'd probably go for a 'stock' color. Maybe not the champagne gold, but a 'stock' color for the year of the car. I too like Verdoro Green, but it's obviously not 'correct' for the 66-67 A-bodies, so I probably wouldn't put it on a 'stock' rebuild.

2. If you go the pro-touring route, then go for a custom color while you're at it. Make it 'custom' thru and thru, including paint/interior, wheels, lots of chrome, gauges, etc. Have fun with it!

3. I know the trend for 'corporate motors' has a following, and has its place in the hobby, but personally I wouldn't put one in. I just like the real Pontiac engines too much, and I think that you can build a very stout, reliable, and great looking one even if you go the pro-touring route.

4. But whatever you do, by all means, do exactly what you want to do! It's your car, and you should build it the way you want!
