I have a quadrajet (7043201) that was off a 73' chevy 454. I would like to rebuild it to put on the 400 in a 69 gto ( motor hasn't ran in years). a few questions:
this carb should work? are all rebuild kits the same basically( auto parts store or off our host or other web site? I believe carb is complete, any helpful ideas before I get started? thanks, Chris

The choke may be differnt. Fuel inlet is on the side on a Chevy Q-Jet. The carb kits are different. Get the one for that number on the left side of the carb. Should still work on your car.

gotta look at the intake to see if old choke setup is still there. car is still wrapped up for winter. i just wanted to get the carb ready. what are the cfm ratings on these? I read they were either 750 or 800. sounds a little high.

The quadrajet's cfm will work just fine. Most of the 400's had 750 quadrajet's. The jets and metering rods might could be changed to fit your application, but the cfm is fine.
When it is rebuilt, find someone such as Cliff on this board that knows about the leaking wells and other unique things that will help it perform better after it is rebuilt.

I picked up a rebuild kit from the local shop. Is there supposed to be a fuel filter in it and a accelerator pump? looks like mostly is is some gaskets and o-rings. wanted to make sure it was a good kit before I open the package.
