It's been a while that I posted some pics of my '79 Firebird Formula.
Engine and trannie are out. Engine bay needs a clean-up.

Removed the inner fenders today.
Soon to be repainted semi gloss black and allowing access to the firewall heater tubes for replacement of the hoses and cleaning.

GEN II (2) RACING PRODUCTS...aka www.pro-touringf-body.com . Dave's shop (ptfb) is in our neck of the woods. I'm not sure if I've taken this car to Barrington but I have been there with another '79 I owned (brown/brown). I have seen a 2X87 (10th Anniversary) at the Palatine show that looks identical to my car. The guy converted the car to Platinum Silver with Carmine interior so it looks very close to mine and the guy attends local shows.

My ex Chesterfield brown 1978 Trans Am now painted with SEM Hot Rod black. This will do until I am done with the rest of the work at which point I will have it painted gloss black. I am loving this look for now. I have a set of Trans Am decals that I am thinking of throwing on it. It's the gold hood bird, the sails, the fender tags, the shaker decals and the rear spoiler Trans Am decal. What do you guy's think, should I do it?

Toecutter, that's a pretty tough lookng car. And I think it might look pretty good with the decals thrown on there. I say go for it!

Looks good. Give it a couple of weeks to dry out then use lots of soapy water and squeegee to get the bubbles out.

i think it looks great with out the decals, but heres an idea. i love the black and gold look, but with all the chrome trim on this one, i would think of going with silver or gray decals.
