I read in another thread that someone is making a alternative to the Titan oil pump.
As cast iron gerotor oil pump, does anyone know something about this?

All we need is a iron gerotor oil pump like you can get for a FE Ford.

There is a big gap between the old spur pumps we have and the Titan.

Tom Whilhite makes it. It is a nice piece. I have pics of it somewhere. The nice thing is you do NOT need a custom oil pan!
I have his number at the shop. Maybe someone else will be kind enough to post it.

Toms pump pics. I have others if interested. It is a highly modified billet ford pump. Although it can be run in a stock oil pan it would benifit from a small kickout being put in the right side of the pan as the pickup is next too/close to the pan side wall. no big modification. I talked to Tom at lenght about this pump and he stated at the time he and a few of his race buddies were running it with excellent results. The Butlers were doing testing for him also. I havent talkted to him for awhile and Im not sure were hes at with marketing it.

That looks like a sweet pump, is it rated at a higher volume than a 54D? Does it have a bearing supported shaft?

Why cant someone cast us a gerotor pump that looks like a FE pump. No extra pan mods, nothing.
Just a more reliable, better designed pump than a spur pump.
A 150$ simple cast iron pump.
There is a market for them. They would sell.

Maybe. But the reality is there are plenty of suppliers out there that could do it, and they arent doing it. So, maybe not. I doubt the real market demand would cover the initial costs of production.

I don't think it's so much of a "secret" than it is Tom is not a regular here on PY (if he's here at all) and racers modifying existing parts to work with something they weren't originally designed to goes on all the time. In other words, I don't think Tom was looking to market it, just build it so he could have something that would work for him without going to a heavily modified or expensive race pan...and if a few others can get in on it, that's cool too.

The last I knew, Langer was "getting by" with a $20 Melling pump. Makes me ponder- why would any Pontiac owner "need" a different pump type? Although Langer spins his a little tighter, the iron blown-alky engine I ran for a couple of seasons saw 8,200 RPM everytime out, with a Melling pump.

I was thinking the same thing Jack, I used an ordinary Melling pump in my last engine(and there's one in my new turbo combo) and spun that to 7 grand every run ,hundreds and hundreds of runs over a period of about 5 years without any oil related problems. Why fix something that isn't broke? And $500 for an oil pump? Come on!

Jack, There are valid reasons that a $20 pump will be terribly inadequate in some applications.
A nitro motor needs 100-150 psi at idle at the hit or will destroy bearings. A Titan is fully adjustable and expandable. I have 3 of them. 2 of them are the expanded nitro versions.
You would even set up your pan to adjust your oil pessure with the pan on should someone need that.

Another application would be an endurance/marine application. My Pontiac powered jet boat ate oil pumps. They do not like high temps for long periods.

If you are N/A and drag racing, I would guess the $20 pump would do the job but, I am not going backwards, will stay will my 3 Titans.

You mean... like the setup I built into the Tri-Power engine sitting in my GMC? Melling pump with relief spring seat adjustment brought out through side of the pan; works great.
