Hi all. I am a newbie here as well as to Pontiac's. I will get started with a little info. My son bought a 1974 Trans Am a little over four years ago. The body is a little rough and the motor needs gone through. We lost him in Afghanistan this past December and I thought it would be good to get the car going as a tribute to him. I plan on pulling the motor this weekend and get this project started. I found this forum about a week ago and I am amazed at all the knowledge you all have about Pontiac's. I have been a small block Chevy man all my life (don't hold that against me). I will try not to be too much of a pain in the butt, but I know I am going to have a LOT of questions. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome! I'm so sorry for your loss and thankful for your son's service. A true hero. I'm going through a build right now as well. There's a lot of very knowledgable people here. I'm glad I found this place. My motor wouldn't have lasted 100 miles with the way I was putting it together. Good luck luck on the build!

You can't ask too many questions on here it's the whole purpose of these forums, so you can't be a pain in the ass that way.I'm sorry for your loss and I am grateful that young men are still volunteering to go to far off lands to take out the animals that would love to come here and kill innocent people just trying to live and let live. I believe that most Americans are aware that even as we sit in our comfy little houses and surf the net, young American Patriots are placing themselves in harms way so that we can live a peaceful, safe life!
Now, on with the car stuff! There are some great books that will help you get from Chevy to Pontiac. There is a thread listing some of these books. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=399544 The last three books on the list have been especially helpful to me.

Thanks to all the brave men and women of the armed forces who like your brave son put him self in harms way for us all. And to the families who lost so much as well. As a former Marine, I know what it takes to prepare and do a job like that. My daughter is in Afganistan and we are proud of her. Lots of great folks here to help you with your project. Ask away!

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. I got started on the project this past weekend. I had to work saturday but spent all day sunday removing windows and pulling motor. I took some pics that I will try to post after work today. About all I know at this time is it is a 455 with 4X heads. That and I know this old man is tired. How can someone be so sore from just working on a car??? Will post more when I know more.
