To me, those twin hood scoops have a shape and senuous curve that rivals a woman's breasts - especially when viewed from the drivers seat. Simply beautiful.

![]() I'm a huge fan of them too, and unfortunately they're only hanging on the walls at my house currently.

Lil history now, off the NEcamaro site..YES its an SD!, Yes those are GOLD Honeys! ( imagine how much this one is worth??)
![]() Initially the idea came from a 1973 Trans Am SD455/TH400 that was pulled off the assembly line for Vice President of Design, Bill Mitchell, as his personal "Brass Hat" car. John Schinella, the "Chief of Design" for Pontiac, had the car painted Black with Gold Metal Flake, sporting Gold accenting Pinstripes, plus numerous details painted &/or plated in Gold. Another addition to the car came shortly thereafter when John Schinella tried to revive the "Screaming Chicken" hood decal, an idea that had originally been proposed for the 1970 Trans Ams. Some backstory is needed here: Going backwards a few years, back to early 1969... Bill Porter, the Firebird's Chief of Design & Ted Schroeder, Trans Am's Chief of Design were tasked with designing the all-new 1970 Firebird platform. Rather than adding another racing stripe package, as used on the 1969 Trans Am, they came up with the idea of placing a giant Firebird logo onto the hood of the Trans Am. Design Studio Graphic Designer, Norm Inouye, sketched out the new Firebird logo and 3M was contracted to make a handful of test-purpose versions. Not very long after placing these on two variations of the Trans Am color-schemes, Bill Mitchell passed through Pontiac's Design Studio to check on the progress of the design. After observing one of these Trans Ams, he exclaimed "“It looks like an Indian blanket on the hood", “it looks like a Macy’s truck”, & “get the damned thing off immediately!” At that point, the "Screaming Chicken" hood decal for the Trans Am became a dead end... A lowly junior designer at the time, John Schinella thought highly of the idea and kept it in the back of his head. Fast forward back to 1973, Schinella saw his chance to re-try the idea of the "Screaming Chicken", and this Black and Gold creation was the perfect place to do it. He picked up the car one day and took it to the design studio, he obtained one of the original spare decals and re-did the hood decal in Gold foil, placed it on the hood, & parked it outside Bill Mitchell's office. Upon seeing it, Bill Mitchell saw the light & fell in love with the "Screaming Chicken". |

Isnt is the Chicago Auto Show car that was turn into a 74 front and rear ends along with other mods. Been for sale on and off and really never got allot of interest. Not sure where it ended up but it wasnt long ago it was available once again.
Much better looking in the picture above compared to how it looks now. Just my opinion though liking the euro front end and all. |
