Ernest Borgnine
RIP Ernest Borgnine
 He played Quinton McHale on McHale's Navy and also Dominic Santini on Airwolf January 24, 1917 - July 8, 2012. 95 years old He died of Renal failure.

I liked Ernest. He also had a cameo appearance in the movie "RED" with Bruce Willis. I think his last work in film.

he was in many, many movies and shows in his career..i just saw the original escape from new york with him as 'cabbie'...good man..will be missed.

I recently met him at a convention. He was the nicest and sharp as hell. It was just last year. Well to me he was one of THE greatest actors. There are not many left. And in MY opinion has the greatest death scene ever when him and Bill Holden meet there end in Sam Peckinpahs The Wild Bunch. Him sayin Bill Holdens characters name as he fades away is epic. I really enjoyed his character as the General in the Dirty Dozen in 1967 with a lot of other greats: Lee Marvin Charles Bronson, Jim Brown, John Cassavetes, Richard Jaecket, George Kennedy, Trini Lopez, Ralph Meeker, Robert Ryan, Telly Savalas,
Donald Sutherland, Clint Walker, Robert Webber, and Tom Busby. The only film to come close with actors was the Great Escape with Steve McQueen. RIP Ernest. You were a great one. Tom Vaught

His role in The Dirty Dozen was one of my favorite characters too.
Rick, I don't know about all those film credits after RED, whether they were in theatres or just for TV. I just knew about the one small character part he had in RED. He's done a whole bunch of voiceovers as Mermaidman on the SpongeBob cartoon. I know the kids recognize his voice but have no clue who he is/was, and the older generations were probably unaware of his work on the cartoon. Really enjoyed movies with Ernest Borg9. Mostly The Dirty 12 & Spongebob's Mermaidman voice overs, and some b-movie where Ernest asks a shy girl out for sodas & ice cream.
