I've been doing a little work on the tempest.
Going to have to modify for the radiator to fit. The rear suspensions adjusted pretty close When I get the actuale weight on the car I'll get down to the nitty gritty. Heres some more pics. GT. |

drag star yes I am happy with the ute (aussie for small pickup). The only thing that annoys me is about 3 mounths after I got it they allowed a g8 front option. To those guys who asked about the plate adapter Im redoing the drawing as I cant find the other one.I did try to put a photo up of the plate on the car but it would not go and nether did some of the others. My yougest girl said she would try and fix it for me.I think too many pixels or something like that. Thanks for your intrest as its lonely down for rope shaft owners as I seem to be the only one.

Another FYI for people building these cars,it is VERY easy to fab mounts with a 4 cyc X member to move the engine toward the pass side to get more clearance for headers. If anyone wants I can shoot pics of the mounts and the room you get around the steering shaft.Tom

Tom, Do send photos of the 4 cylinder mount converson for a v8. I think many Tempest "converters" will appreciate them.

Took the 63 up to my local Muffler shop.
Went with 2.5" custom exhaust. We were able to keep the sway bar by spacing out 1.5" from Frame rails and having 1 head pipe go above and 1 below. Also sent the pipes as close to the modified 69 firebird x-cross member as possible. Hugged the drive shaft through the suspension front cross member. Mufflers fit nicely in in the recessed area...then up and over the axle and outward at an angle between the tire and rear frame rail like a firebird. I already had the mufflers and the 67 GTO manifold turndowns/headpipes ... the the price of exhaust pipe is much higher than I remembered. ...they told me $50 a stick for an aluminized 2.5" 7' piece. I had almost $200 in just pipe without labor or hangers .. ouch! We will make our own H-pipe (after trans) as the muffler shop dosen't use a hole saws and thought we could do better job. Engine and trans are out for brake lines and paint touch up of the engine compartment. Final assembly soon! |
