Looks like ole George Barris lost his dentures talking the car up.

Last time it sold(a few years ago) the selling price was 8 million. Not much of an investment.

I just looked at today's (Saturday's) results. I'd say that the buyer of Charlie Ryan's "Hot Rod Lincoln" did okay- bought it for $106,700.

From what I read this is the first time the original Batmobile has been put up for sale. George Barris has owned it since designing the car for the television sereis. He bought the 55 concept car for 1 dollar. Spent 15 grand to make the Batmobile. Now that is a nice return on your investment.

The worst part is I sat there watching people pay millions, over and over, for a car that will never be driven but a half dozen times in their life, and I'm trying to figure out where to come up with twelve hundred bucks to give to Dennis to restore my steering wheel. I guess it's all perspective ain't it? Still think I'm happier driving my old 64 than worrying about if someone is going to lean against my million dollar show stopper, I'd rather drive!

4.2 million, I guess if it makes you happy it's worth it.

It can still be "restored to original TV condition" with working lasers, Bat phone, and Turbo shaft Jet power. So, THAT would sell.

That is the one and only real Bat Mobile.
And this is the 1st time offered.
It is the car IMO that put Barris on the map unlike the Monkee Mobile which HE DID NOT BUILD.
There are many copies that have been built & sold.
IIRC there is/was a company that offers/offered a kit.

There was even one at a past POCI convention on a Pontiac Chassis

The two bidders flipped a coin to see who would get it - decided to stop the cock fight!

I would rather tool around in my Matador Red 69 GTO and not be botherd.right? ;o)

I seen this one at a local car show I went to and it said on the side of the car that George Barris made it. I also asked the owner how he managed to get it. He replied that he ordered it and they made it. I also asked him what car did they use to make it? He said it was an old lincoln. How much these facts are true but it looked pretty cool. It even had a batphone. Lol

How big is the buyers house for that car to be displayed in his living room? I wanted to do that with my 69 bird when we lived in the shop before building my new house but wife said there was a limit to what she would put up with. My avatar pic used to be my kitchen and living room.

Nobody at that auction spending any kind of money, works for someone else...that's the perspective.

The carshow guy may be telling fish stories (imagine that). That one has wrong wheels and interior is all wrong. Interior looks like it was made at home. Also, originals had Edsel speedo in the steering wheel. Body looks ok from what I can see on my tiny phone screen.
