Hi, i am doing a little information story on my 71,000 original 65 tempest custom. I have talked to the 3 previous owners and used all web sources that i can think of to try and get some old photos and information on the dealership in New Iberia, Louisiana who ordered and sold this car. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Keith... My wife Patti were in Troy, MI. for a Tucker Car Club Convention. Keith came by after work on a Thursday and took us on his tour. We went through the Detroit area sites. By the time we got to Pontiac a huge storm rolled in . Keith was driving my 2003 Silverado SS. My truck kind of morphed into a boat as we were suddenly driving through nearly a foot of water. Eventually we made it to the Fisher Body Plant building, the last remaining original building of the Pontiac Complex. After that he drove us to his house. A power outage there cancelled my inspection of his classic cars. Because of the darkness the only way I saw his cars was by the flash of my camera. In closing all I want to say is, not only is Keith a great guy, but his wife and kids are terrific as well.

My 67's Protecto-plate led me to drive down to Salem and take a look at the old Capital Chevrolet dealership building. The following is from a previous post.
Its about an hour drive when the traffic is good and the weather was great so it was nice drive. I had decided to visit the dealership where the truck had been sold when it was a shiny new model. I had looked up the address (photo 1) from the owners manual on the interweb and it looked like it was still there. I thought it would be cool to get pictures of the Burban next to the building if possible. Driving into Salem I passed the current version of Capital Chevrolet and I decided that if I could get a picture of the old building I would stop and get one of the current one too.
I found the address and got lucky enough to park next to the address number on the building. (Photo 2 circled) I had to get the pictures from across the street. Having to wait for the traffic to clear between the traffic lights turned this into about a 45 minute photo shoot. I don't know for sure but it looks to me as if the dealership was likely the whole block at some point. The address being in the middle of the block may have been the original location and as the business grew they took over the adjacent properties and built new buildings around the block. More of Capital Chevrolet. I definitely prefer the Art Deco styling of the old corner building over the concrete tip up box styling of the current location.

I was driving up to Oregon a few months ago and thought I would see if the dealership for my 68 was still standing. It was.
Erickson & James Pontiac, Buick and GMC of Yreka CA, a few miles south of the Oregon state line.
Built in the early 1920s it was originally a Standard Oil gas station with a garage that the locals stored their cars in during the winter. They started selling Buicks and GMC trucks and then Pontiacs. I think the dealership closed sometime between 69-75 still selling Standard Oil gas.

My dad was working in Yreka at the time (Surveyor for California Division of Highways, building I-5 during the late 60s.) He stopped to buy gas there and noticed the 68 GTO. Hid it from my mom for over a month before he brought it home. We lived a few hours south of Yreka in the Redding area.

Neither photos are mine. But the building hasn't changed since this photo was taken in 2009. I'm looking for the frames if anyone in the Pacific NW has one or two.
