Hey, congrats to James Hinchcliffe, who won the first IndyCar race of the season on the streets of St Petersburg, Florida, earlier today.

How does this tie in with Danica?

Hinchcliffe was hired to replace Danica Patrick in the Andretti Autosport GoDaddy car in 2012. Last year was only his second season in IndyCar, and he had a great year, with a couple 3rd place finishes. In the off season, James drove an array of other cars to get more experience, including an Aussie V8 Supercar, and a Daytona Prototype car (something Danica never cared to do, she just drives one type of car).

The GoDaddy Team was thrilled. It was their first Indycar win. They finally have a winning driver.

And this is a prime example of how an overrated driver (Danica) was occupying the seat of a good race car, and a good team, just for publicity. There were far more talented drivers waiting in the wings.

James Hinchcliffe is Canadian, very likeable, and a down-to-Earth guy. Congrats on his win, he drove an error free race on a pretty tough street circuit.

GoDaddy is back in business in IndyCar.

Yes, she wasn't driving for GoDaddy. My point was that she is internationally known as the "GoDaddy Girl", and her bright florescent green car, in both NASCAR and IndyCar, is always the focus of attention. Most people that don't follow NASCAR or IndyCar seem to think she's a legend, and one of the top drivers in the sport.

Danica won her one and only race 5 years ago for Andretti Green racing.

Correction to my earlier post : Danica did in fact drive in the Grand Am Rolex Series at Daytona in 2006 and 2009.

Finshed one lap down, she only finshed ahead of 6 or 7 cars that did not retire from the race, and all those cars are marginal drivers, or good drivers with underfunded teams and equipment.
