I was down in Austin this weekend attending a wedding, so I haven't watched the race yet. Therefore I will reserve comments about the Logano/Hamlin/Stewart issues...

But to anyone that still wants to try and convey that Iwanica has talent as a Cup driver may I point out the fact that after 5 races, she is solidly in 29th place with 87 points.

Now some here would suggest that that is "pretty good" for a rookie. However, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (a driver with less racing experience) who is competing against Iwanica for Cup Rookie of the Year is in 12th place with 139 points.

One should also note that there are two part time drivers who have not competed in all 5 races that have more points than Iwanica - Mark Martin (the oldest driver in Cup) has 102 points in only 4 races and AJ Allmendinger has 92 points in only 3 races. Neither of these drivers have the quality of equipment that Iwanica has.

I think a lot of Iwanica's problems are related to the fact that she's in over her head.

And it's scaring the crap out of her.

I like how the insignificance of Panica forces us to talk about other topics. Speaks volumes.

You've got that right. If Darrell, Larry, Rusty and the others only talked about her accomplishments this year we'd have "The Sounds of Silence".

They really toned down the hype the last 2 races. I wonder why that is? Perhaps not wanting to draw attention to the fact she's not doing well?

Sunday's race in California, I was surprised to see that they only showed Danica's status once or twice, just like they would any other driver. Some of the other back-of-the-pack cars get a little air time because their sponsors pay to make sure Fox or ESPN show their logo once or twice a race, and this time, Danica appeared to be no different.

Heck, if it wasn't for that payola, we'd never know Long John Silver's or Taco Bell even sponsors a car.

Iwanica has never raced at Martinsville. It will be interesting to see how she "handles" it...

I smell another DNF and a further drop in the points. It's either that or she spends the whole day riding around the top of the track to stay out of the way of the real racers.

NASCAR will give Panica something before long. The fix will be obvious, but ignored and/or dismissed.

Better happen IMO...and a race or two "vacation" wouldn't be out of the question. NOT a TS Hater, just needs to be same fines / penalties for all.

Strike that though, no way that'll happen! Based on the DaniCant hoopla, hype and non-performing "NASCAR Superstar" status she's received for less than average performance...TS being the owner of said "Superstar" ride a pass will be given more than likely.

Are racer Fines tax deductible?

I agree, I think they'll fine Stewart, but probably just probation. Not only is he popular, he's a shoe-in to make it to the chase, and he's a team owner. They won't sit Tony down for a race or two, too much money involved.

When the season started, I never thought Joey Logano would be the controversy, and perhaps now the driver that will be boo'd louder than Kyle Busch. But these things go in cycles.

I'm still amazed at Kurt Busch. The guy is a jackass, but Lord can he drive a race car. The team isn't well funded, but don't be surprised to see that flat black Furniture Row car winning a race or two this year, and Kurt being there at the end of the season.

Kurt Busch is driving for his life-----Last chance. If he doesn't do it in this car he'll never get a better ride.

Wow, no fine for Tony Stewart, nothing! Seems strange that they fined Denny Hamlin $25,000 for a few words! And whenever punches are thrown, there's at LEAST a fine, if not probation. Heck, at least a call to the NASCAR hauler. Tony got away with one!

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) 03/26/13 -- NASCAR won't penalize Tony Stewart for scuffling with Joey Logano on pit road at California and saw nothing to indicate Logano or Denny Hamlin were trying to intentionally wreck each other as they raced for the win.

In addition, NASCAR officials have given no thought to policing blocking, which is what Logano did to Stewart on the final restart to trigger the post-race confrontation.

How could you even think that there would be any suspension at all, much less a 2 race suspension.

After all the crap they've let the younger Bash brother get away with, Tony's minor transgression isn't even a blip on the radar.

As to the "scuffle", as Mike N referred to it - when I watched the race last night - I noticed some shoving but no real punches thrown. I may have missed seeing it - I was tired at the time. But a little pushing and shoving doesn't even warrant a fine. Joey did throw a water bottle, but that ain't going to get a fine either.

No different than Gordon last year - did you see where the cars were? Did you see that Tony had run him down & blocked him in? Explain to me the post race expletive laced interview! That doesn't get a fine????

NASCAR has lost touch with their core fans and are constantly in reaction mode. It will get worse before it gets better.

Exclamation

Sure sure; no fine for attempting to throw a bitch slap or two, ranting to the media immediately after the race x4 ( to anyone who'd stick a microphone in your face ); continue said rant at the front of your race tow rig broadcasting to the world "I'm gonna get him, he better watch it..."; on and on...and no NASCAR fine OR comment?

However, don't you dare comment on "the new car" cause if you do - BAM!!! $25,000 fine!!!

WTH NASCAR?
