This car sold on ebay the same week I bought my car. I love the color (obviously) and the white top and parchment interior even though it was a color change and originally black. It sold for a little over 35K.
Shortly after that I saw it on ebay for sale by a dealer several times and it did not meet its reserve, nor did it bid to 35K. Definitely the same car and Sold on Friday: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...ln=462&aid=467 That price includes the 10% commission. I cant imagine with transport costs and auction fees it was worth the effort.

imo that is where they should be. What was so special about the liberty blue car that sold for 70k? I am missing something.
Boss your thoughts on the discrepancy in price. patrick

No reserve can kill you and apparently in this case it did!

That's the reason that people take their cars to BJ, in the hopes that 2 of the "more money than brains" crowd, fueled by an open bar and egged on by testosterone, cameras and spectators, decides they have to have your car and will pay stupid money for it. I am not saying that is the case with the 70K Vert as I do not know that much about it.
I am no expert, but I think that a driver quality 4 spd Vert (non ram air) in the real world is a 25-35K car depending on condition. This Vert was at the high end of the driver range as it was a very nice driver. I can offer an opinion as I gave it serious consideration while on ebay, including a 25 min. conversation with the owner.. Keep in mind that it had some factory options "added" on, like Ram Air, Ram Air IV engine components during engine rebuild, interior color change, hidden stereo, lowered suspension, 15" rims, etc...Nice options, for a driver, but past a certain dollar amount these "add ons" may or may not help with value. The reason is that, outside of the parallel universe that is BJ, originality mean a lot to the guys who tend to spend the big dollars on a car. Also a consideration is that, in general, any car that is taken to the next level, with a frame off resto, and/or has highly desirable options will obviously sell for more. I think the 70K Vert was pretty loaded with A/C and automatic...A/C in a Vert would be considered desirable...was it frame off restored?

here is the link. the car pictured is not the car that sold, obviously.
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...ln=734&aid=467 says nut and bolt. Wheel wells looked very clean. Just an anomaly in the collector car world. patrick

A nicely optioned A/C Vert in a desirable color and frame off restored? If truly frame off 70K might just cover the cost of the restoration.
