Lightbulb Welcome to the Land of Denial

I have a relative that only casually follows auto racing. In other words, he gets the ESPN updates, reads slanted Danica hype, has never watched a race in his life, etc. I reminded him that she's only won 1 race, to which he said that was wrong, she's won "at least 4", and that "she's a groundbreaker, there's never been another female in NASCAR."

And that, my friends, is from the type of person that thinks some karaoke singer who makes it to the final rounds of American Idol is just as good as Led Zeppelin, because the American Idol contestant sold more records.

Welcome to America.
Agreed. And from the FWIW Dept. - wonder how many others are like our household; self imposed NASCAR blackout, especially for this bogus "All-star" race? Who really cares about this race? Not me.

Thing is you will never know the reality of the ratings, sales, etc. as it will be advertised as a phenomenal success even if the net results were a loss.

Welcome!

Yes there was!

In all honesty, I give Kurt and the 78 team a lot of respect for what they do with very limited resources. Jimmy had too much Jimmy tonight, and it showed.

And although I may disagree from time to time with him, this thread will tell you about what Tom is all about. Kudos to him.

Well, Alvin obviously likes racing and he can't get much discussion on the Aussie V8 Supercars...

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=1#post4929849

NASCAR blows the Supercars away as far as fan interest.

Wink

Sure 'Nuff...see my reply there.

To the positive this event is now on our bucket list: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=728078

Note the variety of make, model, class etc. of those cars.

Edit: Found this BTT per the OP

So if you find Aussie Supercars boring as you stated below on the Supercar thread, and you have a self imposed ban on NASCAR, what type of racing do you like???

I'll have to attend a live event to see if I'm interested more than the broadcast generated for me. Translation: Boring.
I find it interesting that despite all the posters that say Aussie SuperCars are more "stock" than NASCAR, LeighP, who lives in Australia counters that claim.

As to Sonoma:

Sonoma is one of the few NASCAR tracks that my wife and I haven't attended yet. It will happen soon. The list is getting shorter with our plans to go to Kansas in October - only leaves Sonoma, Watkins Glen, New Hampshire, Pocono and Kentucky.
