In keeping with my long established tradition here is the latest post, But, I have nothing to add. Still waiting for my wood wheel to be restored. And, I almost bought a set of rims but wasn't able to contact the seller yesterday. I have almost made up my mind to go with the Year One Rally IIs in 17x8. I have read, in another thread, about some minor problems, mostly with wheel studs that I need to get answers to.

Man, did I ever clean up on Mother's day!! I have been called a Mother .... on many occasions so I guess I am deserving in a way but this is overkill.
First, I got a package from PY Friday afternoon and in it was my newly remolded sport wheel! It went on the car right after supper!
Then, yesterday, I went to Year One in Commerce, Ga. and bought a set of 17x8 rally II rims with lugnuts and center caps.
Now, I have to work out what size tires I can put on them. Maybe, by the end of the month I'll be riding around with my new "shoes" on!
I haven't updated totals for awhile but I have to dog out all my receipts and add them up before I can. I'll try to do so before next Sunday.

Well, it's been a fun week for once. Then, I added up all my receipts since I last updated totals! But, it wasn't too bad. I spent $1,233.71 on parts including the new wheels and $249.00 on the steering wheel restoration. I only put 4 hours labor in since the last update and that came to $80.00. I would think that after 5 years I would deserve a raise. I'll bring that up the next time I see me!
Anyway, I still have to finish the A/C and some other little stuff but it feels so good to get in the car and go!

If any of you have been following my thread in the lobby about the new rims you will know that I came to the costly conclusion that the 17" rims from YearOne will not fit a 67 GTO! The fronts fit fine but the rears do not clear the fender lip.
I will be returning the rims the 3rd of June. I cannot return the two that had tires mounted on them but, I was told to bring them and they may give me something for them.
I knew when I bought them that once tires were mounted they were not returnable so I may lose some money. It won't be the first time nor the last that I come up short.
Other than that I have not done anything else to the car.
My next step is to finish the A/C. Then I will work on a sound system.

Did you discuss the fitment issue before you bought them? If you did I would think that you could a refund.

I did discuss the problems that they had with the first run of rims about the backspace and wheel studs but, I did not ask them about fit on a 67 A-body. I did tell them that they were going on a 67 GTO.
I should have taken more time to make sure the rears cleared but honestly, I didn't think they would be the problem. I was more concerned with the fronts. And, it turned out that they fit with 245/45 tires and had room to spare.

I think that I would put a little shame on them. Tell them that in your discussions with them that you were led to believe that they would fit. Couldn't hurt.

If you can't return them I might have an interest in them. I would have to measure but I think I ordered my 9" rear end 1.5" more narrow than a stock 67 rear.

I hear a knocking in my 67 GTO 400 block. It's not super loud "yet" but when I hold the fuel filter or its lines, I can feel the knock through the lines themselves. Meaning, for every knock I hear, I can feel pulsate through the lines.

I'd look into selling them as a group to someone who can use them. Cut your losses - IF they don't want to do the right thing and refund your money due to the bad advice.

As for fitment, is there a reputable wheel shop close by that could mill the back side a bit to give you more clearance? Not sure how much meat is in the hub, but it has been done. I would probably only do this on a billet wheel, definitely not a cast unit. Another option, aside from fitting an earlier axle in there would be to get your tubes and axles cut down a hair and then re-spline the axles...

I was told to pull the number 1 plug wire and see if the knock went away or got quieter. If so it was probably in the motor. You could also try a mechanics stethoscope, just be sure to keep it away from the belts and pulleys.
If you do replace the pump make sure to grease the pivot arm to prevent premature wear.

I really considered all these options but decided to stay with the stock look. Maybe I'll be blessed with another car that I can restomod.

Sorry to hear about your problem with your rims on your steering wheel it looks real good! As I remember, didn't you just need to have the rim re-dyed? I thought that it was solid and didn't have any chunks taken out of it. When PY restores the wheel don't they take it down to the metal? How were your spokes? I also would like to have mine redone as the wheel has faded to a very light tan color, but the plastic wood is in real good shape. Do you happen to have a before and after shot you could post?

My wheel was cracked badly but the spokes were in pretty good shape. One spoke has a mark on it that I have not tried to remove.
PY has the wheels re molded then they do the dyeing in house. Here are before and after pics.

I replaced the low beam bulbs with halogens and found that the Wagners are the right bulb to go with. I didn't have to trim the plastic shield on the wiring harness to make it work.
I am taking the 17" wheels back to YearOne Tuesday. Now, I have a decision to make. The 14" rally IIs I currently have on the car do not clear the front disc brakes without the use of a 1/4" spacer so, do I get 14" wheels that will or do I go with a 15"? And, what would look better, Rally Is or rally IIs?
I have not restored the 14"s yet so I am open to suggestions.
I'll update totals next week.
