My wife booked the first 2 or 3 days at a resort in Islamorada that a friend of hers recommended. The idea of just winging it for the whole week was out of her comfort zone (lol). My son and I stayed at the Islander Resort a couple of years ago during a fishing trip, real nice place for Islamorada. Warning there's a place called Ziggey's (not sure of the spelling) that we stopped for a steak dinner, that turned out to be over a $100. bucks before tip. No real friendly, and the food was so,so. Am sure you will have a great time, and the ride won't be that bad if it's not a weekend.
