I had to grind my IA block the first go around so the bars would not hit.
I would rather grind a little on the block then the tie bar.

I agree with you Jack, grinding the lifter tie bars is not the right way to fix this. Where there were obvious clearance issues when the engine was initially built, not sure why it wasn't done right the first time...

The current lifters are Crower 66260:
Full Body Mechanical Roller Lifters (.842" dia. / .750" Bearing) V8 (Pontiac/Oldsmobile) Pontiac 1955-Up 326-455ci, Oldsmobile 1964-1984 260-455ci (Set of 16) Full Body Mechanical Roller Lifters

Looks like these will be ending up in the spare parts drawer. I think I'm going to need a bigger drawer.

Haven't you tore this engine down again?

Why didn't you grind the block this time, especially since you knew this was a problem?

Yes, the McCarty/BES Racing Crate Engine after only 2 N/A dyno sessions which were performed by BES was torn down after I received it.

I have no excuse for not having the 2nd machine shop fix an issue that would have been a non-issue if either the first shop addressed the problem or simply used another lifter like a Crower 66294. These roller lifters feature a special alloy body, a lightweight design, and a heavy-duty blade that has been moved up to fit late model blocks.
