I was at a real service station getting gas sometime around 1988 and a guy came in with a Yugo and a flat tire. First the mechanic had to find the spare, then found it under the hood - rather on top of the engine. Took the hold down off and then went to after grabbing that hot tire! If I remember correct the spare took up more space than the engine under the hood!


Back in the day my father in law wanted to buy his wife a new Yugo, but when I told him it was a "commie car" he quickly dumped that idea and bought an Escort. He was a Ford man anyway and that Escort served them a lot longer than what Yugos were ever on the road in America.
