They're swim goggles, but it shows that you're thinking.

X2 !! I've been laughing for 5 minutes and the wife just came down to see what all the fuss was about! I'm also wondering what use the bottle of window cleaner is under the passenger seat. cleaning the mirrors? Not sure if it's just digital distortion but the steering wheel looks bent. Someone really didn't want to let go of there car even after they used the jaws of life to pry them out of the car! I'll second the belief it's a nissan sentra, my sister had one. I remember getting a brand new fender from the dealer to repair an accident she had and while I was carrying it, a gust of wind pulled it out of my hand and I dropped it. That fender weighed about 2 pounds!

There appears to be a small plexiglass 'windshield' right ahead of the steering wheel.

How does it pass a state inspection without wipers or a windshield? Seems it is pretty desperate to drive something like that!

Some states like California have NO state inspection at all. You can literally drive with no wipers, broken windshield, no tail lights, etc. Sure, you can get ticketed for doing so but no one is stopping you from getting a registration sticker and license for it...

damn, I missed that, blends in with the concrete on the sidewalk. Not much of a windscreen. Maybe just for trying to deflect bugs when he's traveling the highway at 85! I'm guessing the "door ajar" light is a permanent fixture on the dash.

A windshield is probably required in most states. I doubt that one is legal, but it might be depending on the code. A friend got a dunebuggy one Christmas and drove it with a motorcycle helmet on to show to some friends down the street, but got pulled over for no windshield. Illegal here.
