All the 1971 and 1972 455HO four-speeds were M22s. It was the mandatory transmission for that engine option.

Well Steve didn't leave me much to do on the Black Car, but there are a few things. Mainly I have been trying to get the Truck finished so I can get it off the lift and get the Black Car up in the air for a thorough inspection of Steve's handy work. Here's the truck story from the PY Lobby:
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=727561 There were a few things that were on Steve's list that I have inherited including the oil slinging A/C compressor. After having the car for only a short time I concurred that this was an issue and purchased a compressor pulley shield from Eckler's and got it installed today. Below is a picture.

Bob,
You need to get the new "RQ" air cleaner decal that ECS Automotive finally produced. Give them a call. |

Charles at ECS said that their phone had been ringing a lot today for the RQ decal. |

HFR - Thanks for your post(s) - this is very timely. I saw your post on the 455HO thread and the picture showing the air cleaner and RQ decal. I was planning on being lazy and replying with a question about the proper location for the air cleaner decal. I assume your picture shows the correct approximate location of the decal within assembly line standards? I am sure I could do a search here and find much debate about the proper location, but right now I am in favor of less debate and more leadership.
What's the current majority view on location? Thanks for all your contributions sheparding the Pontiac faithful. Regards, Bob |

As Pat is showing, I placed it in the appropriate area in my other picture. You would not believe the number of incorrectly restored air cleaners.
