but I can use a 78 ta front spoiler with the 79 fenders?

IIRC - '79 fenders have two separate sets of mounting holes. 1 for '78 & older flares and 1 pair for the '79-81 flares.

I've got 79 flares/center on my 78. If you have a set of 78 flares, I'd love to trade you!!
