Took some outside photos but it's rainy and overcast here today. Keep in mind my filler cap was painted with paint that was mixed using my original mint valve covers.

I just ordered a can of O.E.R. off ebay from Jegs..I am going to respray my H.O. this week and see how it looks..I have to move on from the Plasti.Kote..will be interesting to see the before and after, hopefully this paint job will be a keeper..and under $20!

So which do you think matches more closely?

Here's a couple pictures comparing the OER #5 to the OEM paint, and another picture that compares OER #5, OEM and Tiemann #4. The difference between the OER and the OEM is pretty subtle. It is definitely a shade or two lighter, but that may just be lot to lot production variations.

My wife and I originally thought OEM was closest but just now we put them by our living room window. The sun kind of peeked out and in better lighting the Tiemann looks real close to mine. On a side note: Looks like we'll be driving my GTO to MCACN in the rain. That's OK with me my only real fear is snow. We're about 20 miles south of the show site.

Spoke too soon as it a nasty storm as predicted, hope our friends in Peoria area are okay. Washingon IL got hit hard already and it isn't done.

I got your samples in the mail. Thanks.. I think of the samples you sent, OEM and Tienmann are the closest. I still like OEM best, but it appears this discussion will end up being personal preference vs actual definitive results. I guess we can all agree some colors are way off, but this is such a strange green blue color, it is quite difficult to get dead on. OEM makes some of the best colors in the industry. Expensive yes, but as we see here, they do considerably better job than most $15 can paints do at color matching. I have mentioned this a few times, will again.. I don't quite get all the discussion about the 3 can minimum or the cost when we are talking about 20k++ restorations vs <$100 of engine paint..Just seems misplaced to me.. Anyway, BWB thanks for the test.. personally..I would leave it be now and stop taking new colors to test.. I believe we have concluded which colors best match..
