Doesn't work that way on our Microsoft Internet Explorer systems. Wil stay minimized for the duration of any session...but reappear expanded at next use.

So, Suggest it may be your local Hardware, software, and user settings, seperate from any PY display setting. That has been the case here at home and office.

Maybe by having these forums for the newer cars, will not only help PY from a business aspect, but help us traditional Pontiacs guys and gals by exposing more of the younger crowd to our traditional forums, which they don't get on late model only sites.

I don't know ... why do we teach American History in schools? It's up to us, the village elders, to bring the youngins along and teach them a little about this old iron ... if for no other reason to show them why, in the older parts of town, why the parking spaces are so d*mn big.



Seriously though, in ten years or so, we'll have ten estate sales for every buyer. I personally don't want to see that happen to our cars. I'd like to believe that we'll have a new generation take over when we can longer do it. We've put a bunch of time, love and money in this old iron and I'd really hate to see this stuff rot from disinterest.

This is where this turbo Miata came from. I'm an avid workout junkie so out of all the youngins I work out with, there's only one who is really interested in cars ... period. Used to be about 8 out 10 males who were intensely interested in cars back in my day.

So this 19 year old like most kids his age was interested only in rice. So little by little he started making the change ... first the fascination of how a V8 sounds. Then the ride and the surprisingly good handling for something this big. Then to his first big national meet ... the POCI Nationals in Dayton. Did all the events while there including Friday at Kilcare. This includes the surprise regarding how iron this big and old could get down the dragstrip like many of them did.

Then one thing leads to another and then that light blue 69 Grand Prix SJ 428 HO appeared in the PY forum classifieds a few months ago .... the one in Eureka, CA. Got him interested enough that he talked to Hagerty about insurance costs (found out that they won't cover him on a collector car until he's 25).

Overall, made a bunch of progress to take from someone who wouldn't even consider an American car, old or new, to the point that he'll certainly buy a new one from the home team and likely an old one at some point.

He goes to our local old cars, old guys hangout on Thursday night and I go to his Friday and Saturday late night ricer hangout .... with the 63 of course. It's a big hangout with 400 - 500 cars and it's 90% rice and a few new domestics. I'm the only old car there and I frankly get more attention than anyone else.

I think this is how we bring the new generation along so we have someone to take over when we're all gone. It all happens one kid at a time.

People complain that theres no younger guys into cars. This is part of the reason.

Guess what, not everyone can afford a classic Pontiac (Or any brand). Its damn expensive buying and restoring old cars, so they look for the next best thing. How can you argue with something thats LS based, makes tons of power, and can be bought rather cheap now.

Because once your gone, what will happen to your GTO's ? or maybe you don't care, what about all the rest of the restored muscle cars out there? sure there are some interested but not like back in the day, they will go the way of the model T, values will come way down, and hopefully theres enough interest that the youth will snap them up and love them like we do.

I get all of this and I have kids that I believe will want my cars. What I am getting at is what are you (we) in the hobby for? Why do you restore or upkeep your rides, just for future value. Not me, I enjoy working on and especially driving my cars.
I could buy a finished car much cheeper then restoring one but I choose to do the work myself. I really enjoy it and the reward is so great when driving or showing off something I did.
The majority here love Pontiacs, we don't care about the model T the same way some much older folks do. The same will hold true for what the younger generation liking something newer better that or old Goats etc. Are we any less off because we like Goats and birds more that a modal T? No and neither will the rice grinders for loving there rides and not ours.
Its going to happen, already has and this forum watering itself down with corporate nonsence will not make a difference except to upset the old guys.
