Wow, didn't know partially completed cars were crushed. I wonder how those VINs were accounted for.

The book that those pictures are from is Echoes of Norwood it's all about the Norwood assembly plant from the beginning till it close 1923-1987. The book as 312 pages , lots of pictures ,The story of the 1970 cars start at page 138 and end at page 208 so lots on the 70-73 cars. The book as lots of letters from the union, from GM,plan lay-out etc. Very good book, the price is 39.95 plus shipping 11.95 and if ship to Canada a extra $12 it from Chev-star

Thanks, guys.
I remember that link now, don't know why I never ordered the book before. ![]() But, it's ordered now! ![]() Interesting on the flammability of the interior as being the cause of the 'crushing'? I had always heard it was for the 5 MPH bumper standards coming in? (and its reinforcements to the body) Too bad Pontiac/GM wasn't still in racing, possibly they could have 'sold' the bodies as body in white to racers, just with no VIN?

Blame the unions.... and they helped make the legacy costs impossible for GM to bear..
( No offense union guys, but.....)

I haven't read the book, and I'm sure there is/was enough blame to go around, but after reading these limited few pages, which amazing by the way, its obvious whose side the author is on.
