Paul,
Looks like you have a bit of other things to work on long before dealing with rims & tires. IMO and as stated those R1 rims look great and would/could look better with the goo wiped off the rubber and the drums detailed as factory, it will make the Rims POP. Add to that a Red upper body stripe and it would all pull together. Best of luck and do what YOU wish and enjoy the hell out of her!

I believe it was '66 only. My new '67 with Rally I's didn't have them.

Purchased in 1979, started frame off April 1,1983 still not done (30 years must be a record) this is how it looked a couple months back. ![]() I bought this one as a basket case in 1982. Patti and I restored it (with help on the paint) in the Summer of 1985.

Yeah, Bill's two Goats are beautiful. Yours ain't no slouch either Paul.... it's gorgeous. But I'm predjudice because of the color.
![]() When you do the waterpump and t-stat housing Paul, use Permatex 222071 Water Pump and T-Stat Housing RTV. It's a sa silver color and the tube it's in is silver with blue writing on it. Works great. I use it, and I've had no problems with leaks or seepage.

Correct me if I`m wrong. The front drums were painted red if you ordered red plastic inner fenders and Rally I for 1967 GTO.A very rare option.

'66 is/was the ONLY year to get the Red Drums with Rally One rims.
I have never seen anything that would support this detail with the Red Liners so I will say that is a NO as well. It may have been a '66 with R1 & liners that your thinking. Several '67's on the web with red liners and none show red drums.

I have read somewhere, maybe "The Legend" that '66s with rally ones only came with red painted drums if they had the aluminum brake drum option. I have no idea if this is correct or not. I am running red drums behind my rally ones with steel drums & I'm not 100% sure that it's correct. Anyone heard about this? Jerry.

What brand and temp of the red paint for the drums? I might do mine that way instead of black, but keep the Cragars I have on the car now.
