In a brief moment of insanity I threw away the old switch with connector, because it was broken. Never thought there would be any problem with the new connector. It looks very much the same but the dimension and spacing between individual terminals is slightly wider which makes the whole thing too big for the receiving connector. I didn't test the connection until I had also finished installing new cruise control lever+wiring and new dimmer switch+wiring. I thought I was finished and then the connector won't fit...
