I was in the GCTAC in the mid-80's. I didn't get to know Mike very well, but I do remember him and his super-clean cars. I think it was Mike that sold me a t-shirt that had the front view of a '73 T/A and said something like "Mess with the best, Lose like the rest" - I loved wearing that shirt!

I was in the club when they rented Houston International Raceway (the long-gon dragstrip in Dickinson, off of I-45), and have some pictures of that event stashed back.

Too sad, my prayers and best wishes to his family.

I received the sad news via email. I had conversed with Mike a couple of weeks ago right after I sold my SD.
He was a good friend to everyone.

i still have one of those t-shirts - not sure if it was a Mike shirt or not
Mess with the Best on front - with front of car.
Lose like the Rest on back - with rear of car.
An old girlfriend ordered it from somewhere.

Anybody who was much involved with these cars back in the 80's would recognize Mike's name from seeing it printed somewhere before.

All of us guys here there and everywhere who love these cars - we're all the same in a lot of ways. Its an unspoken brotherhood.

Big respect to the guys who could be at the services.
We'll see you in 70-73 Heaven someday Mike ... save us all a good spot

Found these today, saved previously on a hard drive, from the Super Duty 200+ page thread and/or a Lloyd PY thread.

Respectfully, I’m posting these here for Shawn and others who may not have seen them before. I remember drooling over the Brewster SD at Houston Autorama...

I don't recall, although certainly others here know the story. Check these related links out.

The wreck was pre-restoration. IIRC, Shawn posted the wreck was about an 80 MPH collision. The car was torn down, restored and then went on to be an ISCA Grand Champion in the mid 80s.
