455 HO is 12.76 @ 109 mph (Mark Weymouth's '71 TA optimized to the rules 9.9:1 compression);

RAIV is 12.31 @ 115 mph (Mark Weymouth's '70 Judge optimized to the rules 12.0:1 compression) Bruno is right there as well;

455 SD is 12.57 @ 112 mph (John Glasgo's '73 Formula optimized to the rules 9.9:1 compression);

RAIII is 12.95 @ 108 mph (Todd Kozak's '69 Judge optimized to the rules 12.25:1
compression);

RAII is 11.54 @ 121 mph (Rick Mahoney's '68 Firebird 400 optimized to the rules 12.25:1 compression) Jim Mino is pretty darn close as well at 11.70's, Rick Watson has some 12.10's

RAI is 12.32 @ 116 mph (Jim Mattison's '67 Firebird 400 optimized to the rules 12.25:1 compression)

These are the best et's for each car and usually happened on Saturday morning warm-ups prior to the match-up racing in the afternoon. It seems that most of the HO's, SD's, RAIV's, and RAII's run together in the 12.50 to 12.70 range quite commonly with the few exceptions above, despite the body/chassis type.

Thanks Dennis for posting this. It sure did perk up all these old men around here. I got a tell ya, these car are hammering from what I remember years ago. If my HO car even ran a 13 anything, I would be running around with my chest out. I can't imagine in the 12"s.

I am so geared up and motorvated now, that I wish I lived near you guys!...in these races does your interior need to be in!?...all I really need is to bolt my fenders and hood back on and a muffler...and someone to tune my carb.and dist.,and you can use my car!...100% stock...and we do need to re install the rear window though...its at least 2 years till paint and who wants to wait?!...plus its an auto.,even I could drive it!!!

I thought everyone might like to see some numbers from my very stock 1971 TA, auto, air, 3.08 rear. Obviously not the best equipped car for the 1/4 mile. I took it to the Pure Stock Drags in 2007 right after I bought it- it had 48k miles, was never apart, it even has the original exhaust.

Race 1 = 14.933, 2.355 60 foot 95.96 mph
Race 2 = 14.341 2.159 60 foot, 97.13 mph
Race 3 = 14.393 2.173 60 foot, 96.51 mph

Nothing was done to the car to prep it, I just drove it there and raced. I had also never been down the 1/4, so I'm sure my driving skills left something to be desired. My impression is that most of the cars at the PSD have been optimized to some degree. I was paired with a 72 GSX with a 350. I doubt that car totally stock would have kept up.

I haven't attended......but from what I have seen.....the cars that compete are completely assembled with decent paint/interior....most are nice enough to win at a local cruise nite & some are even national show contenders....

Very cool stuff, great to see more guys participating or wanting to.

Alot of free advertisement here for the PSD's, hope they appreciate that. I've always felt we don't hear enough about it and that it should also spread around the country a little more. For me it's much more enjoyable to watch than anything NHRA related. It reminds me of racing in the early 60's when we were all still fighting traction (even with stickies) and it was all still heads up racing.

You are right 2manyT/A's, most all of them are as nice as anything you'd see at a show. Matter of fact, I thought there was some stipulation that cars must retain factory appearances with no add on aftermarket stickers in the windows or otherwise etc...

Love to see an annual Pure Stock type event added in the St Louis or KC area.
Middle of the country & should draw well from MO, IL, MN, Plains states, TX, CO, Arkansas, etc.

I agree, there are some nice tracks throughout that area. I'd even like to see it venture a little further West where the weather is more cooperative year round, since most tracks back East shut down after October and don't fire back up til April or May.

Thanks Eddie for the kind words. We really like putting on the event, but it is a lot of hard work for Dan, Lyndon, and I. If you come to the race this year you'd be surprised by all the gray hair running around the pits and in the staging lanes. I guess we're all old men now-a-days, but still kids at heart. These cars keep us young.

If you rebuilt your 455 HO to stock specs (as close as possible), you'd be surprised how quick your TA would run. Mid 13's @ 105 with 3.42 gears and hauling 4000 lbs is easy to do with careful attention to detail. I have to warn you...once you do race, you'll be hooked hard and want go faster and eventually build another car for the race, so you have to be careful, real careful.
