Well, at least now I KNOW for sure that this part is CORRECT and all I need to do now is find the right pump and that will be one thing checked off the list that I won't need to worry about.

I'm presuming the water pump get painted the engine color as well?

Boostmaster, the divider plates from Ames are stainless steel and as far as I'm concerned they are crap. I tried to get Ames to have them made like the originals in stainless steel but their way of thinking is their SS plates are good enough. Not so. Have you ever tried to bend SS and have it look good with a perfect gap? Not me.

Even at a total cost of 51.00 from ILT that's a dam good deal for the correct plates. The only thing I'd do with them is paint them zinc chromate green.... if you can get it. Just a little added protection in case you use diluted antifreeze that's less than a 50/50 mix.

Also, did you see the Pontiac article link I posted above? They mentioned a non aqueaous coolant for the Pontiac.

Yeah, it is a primer. I believe that's what the originals were painted as they were an olive green color.

I know about Evans coolant but the one thing about it is...... it's expensive as all hell. 1 quart here at the parts store I go to it's $51.00. LOL You have to use all Evans... no mixing it. I'll stick with regular antifreeze until I'm ritcher.

I take that back... 1/2 gallon of Evans is 51.00.

holy crap that's expensive! I guess it's regular old antifreeze for me as well.
Although, lately I may call it's name into question: The other day I was getting the wife's car ready for a trip and I had a brand new unopened jug of antifreeze in the trunk. It was FROZEN. It's been a little cool over here in Lexington. 0* this morning.

Nevertheless, the Pontiac will be a "fun" car for nice weather only so it will never see any of this craziness.

I say someone stole the antifreeze out of the jug and put colored water in it. 50/50 antifreeze shouldn't freeze at 0°s... if that's what you had. Straight antifreeze is good to -84°s. I say someone is messin with ya. Or..... the store it came from is commiting fraud. Get an antifreeze tester and see how good whatever it is in the jug is.

The anti-freeze was from wal mart. Never had an issue with it before.
Temps were in the teens and over night we has some negatives with a windchill of close to -15 to -25. That being said, it was inside the back of the car so I was a little surprised that it was frozen...

I probably should test it... Wonder if manufacturers claims aren't always what they claim?
