Cool ChieftAIn!
Why does it seem that the '50s cars always lack the air cleaner when they are found?? Looks like cross-country road trip material to this guy! Keep us posted!!

Well I worked on the barn find most of the day today.
It's set up pretty good. I saturated all the cylinders and I'm going to let it set for a while and see if I can get it to free up but it's not looking good.!! I might be putting the 287 motor in the 4-door and with the extra347-motor I might be able to put one together out of the two and get the wagon together. I did do some cleaning on the body of the 4-door and was amazed at how well it cleans up so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow. I'll get some more pics up After the cleaning. One way or another I'll be driving one of them if not both This summer. GT. |

I got the motor free and turning over good.
First thing I did was drain the oil I used a propane torch to heat the oil pan to loosen the sludge at the bottom of the pan. Worked pretty good. Put some fresh oil in it and rolled it over till the gage read good pressure. Then took some 1000-grit sand paper to the points cleaned a set of plugs and gave it a shot of either and give it a spin. It didn't start butt it did fire A bunch of times so I know it will start. I unhooked the fuel line so it wouldn't pull any thing from the tank until I can address that situation. When I get time I'll use a gas can to the fuel pump and see how this thing runs. GT. |
