Yeah. RA3 throws people for a loop because it's the only RA that's not a round port. Easy way to tell a Roundy is by just looking at those center ports. If they have that "V" then you know it's a "D." ...and ya know what they say about VD...

...from now on I will just go by if it has chrome valve covers or not...that's how I know if its a real Super Duty or not...the decals on the shaker say SD-455

To clarify things, the "III" in 'Ram Air III' was coined well after the fact.
To the best of my knowledge in official Pontiac literature there was only the 'Ram Air', and 'Ram Air IV'.
It just happens to make sense in the cronology of Pontiac's 'Ram Air' 400cid engines.

• 1967-1968.5 Ram Air; RPO 'L67'; 'D' port engine known today as the 'Ram Air I'; used 068 & 744 cam c/w 1.5 rockers, standard intake, and specific exhaust manifolds.
• 1968.5 Ram Air; RPO 'L67'; round port engine known today as the 'Ram Air II'; used 041 cam c/w 1.5 rockers, standard intake, and specific exhaust manifolds.
• 1969-1970 Ram Air; RPO 'L74'; 'D' port engine known today as the 'Ram Air III'; used 068 & 744('69 only) cam c/w 1.5 rockers, standard intake, and specific exhaust manifolds.
• 1969-1970 Ram Air IV; RPO 'L67'; round port engine; used 041 cam c/w 1.65 rockers, two-piece intake, and specific exhaust manifolds

thought I would keep these photos on one thread..my favorite T/A photos are the real, back in the day...original car photos..got this magazine and another I will post tomorrow..had to get this mag just for this 1970 back ally shot..the article correctly predicts the death of the muscle car...listing Firebird TRANS AM, Camaro Z-28,Mustang,Challanger & Barracuda all as the casualities...and they were right!!
