That's awfully close. Remember, the color of the primer/surface underneath will affect the shade somewhat.

Every and I mean EVERY shaker I have ever seen has original black primer on it....... and nobody uses black primer and I mean nobody....makes a difference ,yes but is it really a difference, I think not enough to change the color that it matters. Nobody will care if its LUCY or TYROL its just the preference of the owner. Nobody can say for sure but I still think LUCY, atleast right now I do.....ask me again i a couple of years

Nobody...? I use black epoxy primer on a regular basis. Like black paint, it's great for highlighting irregularities.

the (formerly) NOS, over-the-counter shaker that Craig is fixing for me is still in it's original black primer (never painted). Someone removed the solenoid bracket at some point in the past, so it's needs some minor surgery, but is otherwise untouched.

I painted mine Lucy blue but I used PPG base clear and that looks like Tyrol blue. I have a few original paint blue cars and they are not the same color. They are close but put them next to each other and there is a difference. Dont get me started on base clear. Every single blue car I see is a different color.

The original PPG lacquer formulation for Lucerne Blue states clearly U5 Grey undercoat must be used for proper color, that said, my guess black undercoat produces a different blue..

I have decided not to rock the Titanic and paint my shaker Lucerne blue...my 76 had a stripe and I used Lucerne...it is disturbingly off but I do not paint and getting a different paint and yada etc..I have an entire car to get painted and years before this car is done so the sooner my Lucerne blue shaker is sitting on top of my engine on my unfinished car I can keep dreaming..

isn't your car originally Lucy Blue? So it would have a white shaker on it.

So it would have a white shaker on it.[/QUOTE..the car was originally Lucerne blue trim tag 26...car was repainted silver when I got it..their was no way too save any original paint such as door jams trunk etc...also why I opted for new sheetmetal, although the quarters needed replacing...obviously if I am painting the shaker blue I am changing the colour of my car..I have enough problems in my life I am not debating colour change

Has anyone removed original paint from a 70-72 white or ?blue shaker and found anything other than black primer?
