I have been looking at my 72 assembly manual,,,I do not think the last post with pics is correct,,,one more try,,,the harness should turn right down the front of the valve cover on an 80 amp set up...opinions?

Glenn,
On the Black Car the harness turns down and runs down the face of the block on the passenger side of the alternator/power steering bracket. You can see this in Figure 12-55 of the service manual or the pictures below. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have decided this will be the final engine harness routing...my original harness did route this way and the 1972 assembly manual shows a diagram of a close up of the 80 amp alternator and the harness goes to the left of the front valve cover

trying to get things together for the 80 amp. rear alt. bracket..I never thought I would get this part, in fact I assumed it was plastic..I need to invest in a magnifying glass to read some of this assembly manual as I am certain my 20/20 is 40/40..anyway I somehow stumble upon this clip, by itself for sale on E BAY!!..I am like..I need that!!..shipping cost more than the part..anyhow I know GM uses some of these weird clips but I have never seen a one like it on my car..but it is used to secure the harness to the rear alt. bracket with the 80 amp.alt. (see 72 assembly drawing)..so I just thought I would post it..I am certain someone will see it and say they have 10, but I had none!...the other pic is a photo of a heater hose bracket that I may have to modify if I cannot find a purge hose clip..it features the same turned up ends..probably the same piece of steel used to form different clips...last is a pic of a valve assembly used near the firewall on the 72 a/c cars..however I got a similar black/white one and the end is made larger and it does not fit like the original all black one so I can not use itAttachment 355805

Hello Bob, I'm checking out your throttle cable bracket and it jarred a new quandary in my noggin. Do you know if that's an original part to your car? I'm not sure, but I thought the ones with two holes on the side were for hipo motors and the 3 holed ones were for those that got the turbo 350 trans. Any clarification you or anybody else has would be terrific!
