Wink Page 2 of 3 New Mexico Y88

The photos are scanned from and courtesy of the book by Nickey Wright:
OSPREY CLASSIC MARQUES
PONTIAC FIREBIRD

Note: Below each posted New Mexico Y88 image will be a larger sized image link. I recommend you purchase a copy of the book for your library and note that the “GOLD” Special Edition Dash and Steering Wheel treatment highlights are clear in the book but have washed out in the scanning process.

I really miss just seeing the second gen birds on the road. Used to see them all over the place. You couldn't drive 10 minutes around here without seeing one back in the 80's. Every other farm had either a Camaro or Firebird parked in the yard/driveway. A good friend of mine had a 4-speed Y88 that he sold to another friend of mine last year. Thankfully, it is still around here. I had first chance to buy it but didn't have the 16K he wanted for the car that included a load of NOS GM parts including GM carpet in the box. Car is beautiful and still has original paint.

I looked at a very low option Y88 once years ago for sale over by Milwaukee, WI. Car had no A/C and standard interior. I believe it was a 4-speed. I don't even think it had the WS6 package either. It was essentially a no-option Y88.

Anybody see this one on ebay? W72 / WS6 automatic car. (appears to be)
Seller has zero documentation & the previous owner passed away.
Looks awfully rusty in the floors & being an east coast car I am guessing its pretty rough underneath ?
Rusty spot near the t-tops is also very concerning.

FWIW, Seller has run the car twice & both times the top bidder is an obvious shill'er.

heres a couple of pics of a friend of mines car. wheels are from bentwheel bob. they went for a good use. he is very appreciative of them. I cant tell you how ugly the aftermarket stuff looks on the y88 cars in my opinion.

I had some aftermarket gold (center) Keysotnes on my Y88 back in 86. Thought they looked pretty sweet for the time.
