I just posted in the wanted section, looking for a set of steel valve covers, valley pan and oil pan for Sister's '72 455HO YE that Jim Robertson is resurrecting.

Can anyone provide information on what years/applications the oil pan and valley pan works on this engine? I think there were some subtle changes to the oil pan on certain years?

Also, if anyone has some nice parts available that'll fit this application I'd appreciate it.

Does Inline Tube make a reprodution oil pan? Anyone have any experience with it?

Greg - below are a couple pictures showing an original oil pan alongside an Ames baffled oil pan repop. The biggest difference is in the oil drain area. It was a nice pan.

I have oil pans from 70 and 71 40's and 455's. Think they were all the same.. valve covers are difficult to find in good shape. I bought a pair on ebay last week that came in and were perfect,suprised me how good they were.guy said he removed from an HO engine. paid $100,which was a bit high,but for non dented/rusted originals couldn't pass up.. not sure if 72 changed but think it was same as 71's?? someone can confirm this who better understands 72 model year

I know this is a little late....and it appears that you may be more concerned with cosmetics and wrinkles on your oil pans,....but this is the style that I like to use.....

Putting an engine that is making 400 HP and 500 ft. lbs of torque in a chassis that is capable of nearly 1 G on the skid pad without a baffled pan is just asking for trouble...

If our favorite cars would have come with this type of pan,I'm SURE there would be a lot LESS with SR blocks in them now.

I called the Guy. The HO's long gone. Seems he has had some bad luck over the years. Someone kin to him sold his original engine. I know what I would have done! Anyway, he's had a rough time, had a stroke and needs to sell it to pay bills. He told me he has a lot of parts, although he's lost a bunch over 3 or 4 moves from state to state from Ohio to Tennessee. I asked what he wanted...He said between $15,000 & $25,000. I didn't unstand that response, but that's what he said.

NOM, needs a lot of parts, still needs to be finished, you guys be the judge. It would still take $25,000 to finish it just to make it a nice fun driver. I don't know if he can be helped.

2many, That's a great looking pan. What year is it from (or, another way to ask, when did the baffled pan get introduced), and other than the added baffle on the inside, what exterior details distinguishes it from the earlier non baffled pan? From your pictures, it looks identical on the outside to a non baffled pan.

Just off the top of my head......I'd say 75 on up to 79....
As I recall,the rear pan seal is the "spiked" style

For that price with everything NOT right about the car, the girl should be included !!!!!!
Fender brace's in 71 ( NOT ) A/C not there and I'm sure there's more.JMO
