That is possible. I have been known to be wrong...but maybe I was just mistaken about that. :-)

Either way, a new clock was installed in the black car back when around the time when I replaced the door lock solenoid. I got the working clock from the same gentleman.

I think Bob does the same thing as me when the car is garaged: unhooks the battery, so the voltage drain issue is not a critical thing.
