On second thought, I suppose if one were to locate an original paint buccaneer '73 TA and swap over the fenders and doors, you could live with the rest of the pinstripes...hmmm, yeah let's do that.

Then you don't have a original panel car. Personally I would try wet sanding the car to get those frames off. I bought a original paint 73 from a member on the site years ago that somebody painted a blue stripe on the deck lid and roof. Wetsanded and buffed it out and its a good 5 footer.

was it clear-coated? how much effort to wetsand through clear coat? I've never done it. Just wet sanded paint without clear....

No it wasnt clear coated. The paint on the red car was probable done in the mid 70's. They may have clear coated the flames but doubt they did the whole car and even if they did it was with laquer. Anyway if it was mine I would try to do everything I could to preserve as much original paint on that car that I could. To pay 185 for a car that needs a resto does not make sense. However if you could make it look like a nice survivor thats a different story.

I know that removing unwanted items over original paint is possible. Same goes for undercoating. It all depends on who hits the BIN....

Nice car. I would love to get my hands on it and fluff it. Here are some pics of my original paint HO with dead paint. We did a light wetsand and buff. Its not perfect but its still original paint. You can see the difference in the one shot between the fender and the hood after we did the hood. Much easier to do on a solid color

Very nice SD, lots spent on resto and it shows. Am surprised he has not tried one of the major auctions companies yet. I wish mine looks that good.
