BOYD listing is half wrong.....I've tried to get that corrected for 10-12 + years....(sent emails to Sean M).
BOYD family is from Henderson, and also had a Pontiac dealership....6-7 hours apart on opposite ends of the State. BLEEKER PONTIAC (?) out of Fayetteville ....few others come to mind, but would have to check some of this old dealer stuff I have stashed away. |

The dealer number 050 Boyd Pontiac is in Henderson?
The dealer number 051 Boyd Pontiac is no relation to the other Boyd dealer? (051 dealer is from Hendersonville) I'd be interested in any dealer info you have.

There was indeed a Boyd Pontiac-Cadillac dealership in Hendersonville, NC. It started as a Pontiac dealer in 1948 and added Cadillac and Buick by 1960. The following is taken from a history of Hendersonville: "However, of the new automobile-oriented ventures, perhaps the most notable survivor is the Art Moderne Boyd Pontiac-Cadillac Company (HN 110) automobile showroom, located north of the business district on the Asheville Highway." The Charles Boyd Pontiac in Henderson, NC I believe is unrelated and may not even have been established during the GTO era. From what I can tell, it was formed in 1980. Dealer codes were revised at some point I think in the late '70s and if this dealership didn't exist in the '60s or '70s, chances are it did not have a Dealer Code belonging on the list. |
